Sarah and Matt had decided on a mountain elopement long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, so when the time came this past May, we luckily didn’t need to alter any wedding plans. Their officiant was a best friend and the flower girl was my little daughter. Sarah and Matt have been friends of ours for a long time. We have shared houses, meals, tears, hugs and now two weddings (mine and theirs!). It was an honor to be asked to be part of such an intimate ceremony in the La Plata mountains outside of Durango, CO. The day was perfect. We leisurely got ready at their house in Durango and then drove out the wedding location and set up camp. We shared celebratory drinks and waited for the sun to get lower in the sky before beginning the ceremony. After the ceremony we celebrated with a huge cajun broil and took couples photos against the setting sun. It was exactly what they wanted for a wedding, and it was simply perfect for the two of them!
