I don’t normally work with families for maternity and family photo shoots since I am usually kept very busy with wedding photography, however, with many weddings canceling lately due to COVID-19, it gave me a wonderful chance to branch out! This particular shoot was a very special one for me since this family means a lot to me. We drove north of Santa Fe on a stormy afternoon with plans to shoot at Plaza Blanca. Our plans had to be quickly rearranged since Plaza Blanca is currently closed to the public, and in a haste I remembered a lovely cottonwood riparian area near Abiquiu Inn that I had shot a wedding at last year. We stopped there for some shots and then continued on to seek some gorgeous red rock backgrounds. This amazing mama and her family were such a joy to shoot, and I loved photographing the raw realness that comes with late pregnancy and toddlerhood!
